Ingredients

Pie Crust:

  • 3 cups of flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 2 eggs 1 for the dough and 1 for sealing the dough
  • 1 cup of milk

Pie Filling:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 apples sliced and peeled
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 tsp lemon

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, crack an egg and beat the egg. Set aside the egg as you will use this for the pie sealing.
  • In a pan, add the butter, sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon powder, and lemon juice
  • Cook for 15 minutes and set aside. This will be the pie filling.
  • Mix all the dry ingredients (flour, salt, and sugar) in a bowl.
  • Add the wet ingredients, a cup of milk, 1 egg, and the shortening.
  • Mix until fully incorporated. Pour the dough onto a flat surface and knead the dough for three to five minutes
  • Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough and cut it into thin square slices. Make sure the slices are an even number and set aside half.
  • For the other half, add the apple pie filling for each dough slice.
  • Place another slice of dough over the dough with the pie filling.
  • Seal the dough by brushing the egg (that was set aside earlier) along the edges and pressing down with a fork to seal them.
  • Fry the sealed dough until golden brown.
  • Once cooked, let it cool and enjoy your apple pies.
