In a small bowl, crack an egg and beat the egg. Set aside the egg as you will use this for the pie sealing.
In a pan, add the butter, sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon powder, and lemon juice
Cook for 15 minutes and set aside. This will be the pie filling.
Mix all the dry ingredients (flour, salt, and sugar) in a bowl.
Add the wet ingredients, a cup of milk, 1 egg, and the shortening.
Mix until fully incorporated. Pour the dough onto a flat surface and knead the dough for three to five minutes
Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough and cut it into thin square slices. Make sure the slices are an even number and set aside half.
For the other half, add the apple pie filling for each dough slice.
Place another slice of dough over the dough with the pie filling.
Seal the dough by brushing the egg (that was set aside earlier) along the edges and pressing down with a fork to seal them.
Fry the sealed dough until golden brown.
Once cooked, let it cool and enjoy your apple pies.
