Asian flavored chicken
Ingredients
- 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- ¼ cup soy sauce low-sodium recommended
- 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
- 1 tbsp olive oil or sesame oil
- 1 clove garlic minced
- ½ tsp ginger grated (optional)
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar or lemon juice for a slight tang
- 1 tsp cornstarch optional, for thickening sauce
- 1 green onion sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
Make The Marinade
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, honey (or brown sugar), olive oil, garlic, ginger, black pepper, and rice vinegar.
- Set aside 2 tbsp of the marinade for later (for a finishing sauce).
Marinate the Chicken (Optional for More Flavor)
- Place chicken breasts in the marinade for 10-15 minutes (or up to overnight for deeper flavor).
Cook the Chicken
- Stovetop Method (Quick & Easy)
- Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add a little oil.
- Add chicken and cook for 4-5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through (internal temp 165°F).
- Pour the reserved marinade into the pan and let it simmer for 1-2 minutes (add cornstarch mixed with a little water if you want it thicker).
- Oven Method (Hands-Off Cooking)
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Place chicken in a baking dish, pour the marinade over, and bake for 18-20 minutes.
- Broil for the last 2 minutes for a nice glaze.
Serve & Enjoy!
- Let chicken rest for 5 minutes, then slice.
- Garnish with green onions and serve with rice, steamed veggies, or a side of stir-fried noodles.
