Dinner Rolls
These dinner rolls are so EASY because the bread machine does all the hard work & makes the dough. Then just roll them out and be the hero for homemade rolls! Carbs make everyone nicer!
Ingredients
- bread machine used to make the dough
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup butter softened
- 3 3/4 cups flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 package yeast or 2 1/4 teaspoons
Instructions
Add the following to your bread machine pan:
- In a glass measuring cup, add in 1/2 cup water (temp doesn't matter)
- In the same glass measuring cup, add in 1/2 cup milk
- Put the glass measuring cup in the microwave for 1 minute. Once this is done, pour into the bread machine pan.
- While that is going, add 1 egg to the bread machine pan.
- Using a cube of butter, cut so that you are using 1/3 of a cup (a little more than 5 TBSP). If the butter is straight from the fridge, put it in the glass measuring cup you used for the milk & water, and put in the microwave for 20-30 seconds. Ideally, it should be soft but not melted. If the butter is room temperature, just cut off 1/3 cup and put in the bread machine pan.
- Once all of the above ingredients are in the bread machine pan, measure out 3 3/4 cups of flour and spread evenly on top of the wet ingredients in the bread machine pan.
- Measure out 1/3 cup of sugar, spread over the top of the flour in the bread machine pan, then make a small opening in the middle of the mixture for the yeast.
- Measure out 1 tsp of salt, I sprinkle this around the edges of the bread machine pan.
- Add in 2 1/4 teaspoons of yeast into the small opening made in the sugar/flour mixture.
- Turn on the bread machine to the dough setting (usually #7 or #8). Set a timer for 10 minutes.
- When the timer goes off, use a rubber spatula and scrape the edges of the bread machine pan to make sure all ingredients are mixed thoroughly.
- Once the bread machine is done, roll out the rolls, doing your best to make them all about the same size (this will help them cook evenly), then cover with the cloth to let them rise.
- After the rolls have raised for at least an hour, cook in the oven. I set the oven to 375 degrees and put them in for 5 minutes, then switch the top & bottom rack, and cook for 5 more minutes.
- As soon as you take the rolls out of the oven, use the remaining butter from the stick and spread over the top of the rolls.
