
Beignet with Honey
A simple recipe for a classic French-style beignets, sprinkled with powdered sugar and drizzled with honey
Ingredients
- ¾ cup warm water
- 1 tsp dry yeast
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 egg
- ½ cup evaporated milk
- 3 ½ cups flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 ½ cup powdered sugar for dusting
- Honey to drizzle on top
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Set aside for 10 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix the evaporated milk, eggs, and sugar.
- Slowly mix it into the yeast mixture.
- Slowly add the flour and salt to the mixture until the dough starts to come together.
- Knead the dough and let it rise (for 1 hour).
- Roll out the dough and cut it into squares.
- Fry for 1 to 2 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
- After frying the beignets, dust them with powdered sugar and drizzle them with honey. Enjoy!
