Beignet with Honey

A simple recipe for a classic French-style beignets, sprinkled with powdered sugar and drizzled with honey

Ingredients
  

  • ¾ cup warm water
  • 1 tsp dry yeast
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup evaporated milk
  • 3 ½ cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 ½ cup powdered sugar for dusting
  • Honey to drizzle on top

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Set aside for 10 minutes.
  • In another bowl, mix the evaporated milk, eggs, and sugar.
  • Slowly mix it into the yeast mixture.
  • Slowly add the flour and salt to the mixture until the dough starts to come together.
  • Knead the dough and let it rise (for 1 hour).
  • Roll out the dough and cut it into squares.
  • Fry for 1 to 2 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  • After frying the beignets, dust them with powdered sugar and drizzle them with honey. Enjoy!
