Guri Guri

Guri Guri

Christie Cockett
Guri Guri is a delicious frozen treat. Sort of like a sorbet but creamier. It can only be found at the Tasaka Guri Guri shop on Maui. The Tasaka family has been serving up this delicious treat on the island for many years. Their recipe is top-secret, however I came up with my own recipe that\’s pretty close. It only comes in 2 flavors, Strawberry & Pineapple; however this recipe tastes great with other flavors of fruit sodas.

Ingredients

  • 40 oz of Fanta Strawberry or Pineapple soda
  • 1 14 oz can of Sweetened Condensed Milk

Instructions

  • Loosen the cap of the soda to let the carbonation out. You’ll want your soda to be flat. I usually let the soda sit for about a day.
  • In a bowl mix the soda and milk together. Refrigerate the mixture until it is cold.
  • Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker.
  • If you don’t have an ice cream maker, you can just put the mixture in the freezer, however it will be a slushy consistency instead of creamy.
